I wanted a new paddle that would allow me to play more aggressively without sacrificing too much control. My first paddle was 19mm, which was great for control but I couldn't generate enough power to close out the rallies decisively. I wanted a 14mm to maintain some control but obtain more power. A friend recommended this one to me and so I purchased the 14mm PRISM Flash SH.
It took about an hour to adjust to the 14mm from my former 19mm, but once I did I took to the court and started closing out way more rallies than before. It was my first time using it and both myself and my partner could immediately see the difference. Overhead smashes and drives were much harder for the opponents to pick up due to increased speed/power. My dinks popped up a bit higher but were still easy to control - nothing that further practice won't be able to perfect (this was my first day using it). The paddle is light enough that I felt unrestricted in my movements during fast-hand rallies, and the snap of my wrist at the top of an overhead smash was sharper and easier.
After going 13-11 against strong opponents, I am proud to say that I won my first ever expert match with my partner at my local rec center courts with this paddle. I've been playing since January 2025 and had yet to win against opponents on the expert courts. I feel there is no greater proof that I made the right choice of paddle for myself than my first victory.
If you are looking for a paddle that is balanced between both power and control, this is the paddle for you.
